General information
Zovirax is an antiviral drug. It slows the growth and spread of the herpes virus so that the body can fight off the infection. Zovirax will not cure herpes, but it can lessen the symptoms of the infection.
Directions
Zovirax can be taken with or without food. The dose is 200 mg every 4 hours, five times daily during ten days. If it using for treatment the herpes, the dose must be for adults is 400 mg twice a day during 1 year. Call your doctor for medical advice.
Precautions
Before taking Zovirax, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver illness and you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Avoid contacting with eyes.
Contraindications
Do not take Zovirax if you are allergic and have kidneys illness.
Possible side effect
Get emergency medical help if you have an allergic reaction to Zovirax: nettle rush, difficulty breathing or skin tumor, sickness, dizziness, headache. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.
Drug interaction
The drug cooperates with: probenecid (Benemid), Tizanidine, Varicella Virus Vaccine, Fosphenytoin, Phenytoin, Valproic Acid. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine. Overdose symptoms may include convulsion and delusion.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature between 59-77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C). Store away from moisture and light. Keep it out of the reach of children and away from pets.
