General information
Clindamycin is an antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body. It is used to treat serious infections caused by bacteria such as impaludism, respiratory system’s contagion, tissures, bones and articulation, ventral organs. But this drug can’t cure meningitis.
Directions
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Use this medicine with a full glass of water daily, with or without food, at the same time.
Precautions
Antibiotic medicines can cause diarrhea, which may be a sign of a new infection. If you have diarrhea that is watery or bloody, stop taking clindamycin and call your doctor. Do not use anti-diarrhea medicine unless your doctor tells you to.
Contraindications
Do not use this medication if you are allergic to clindamycin or lincomycin. Before using clindamycin, tell your doctor if you have kidney and liver illness, an intestinal disorder such as colitis or Crohn’s disease. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.
Drug interaction
There may be other drugs that can interact with clindamycin. Tell your doctor about all medications you use. This includes prescription, over-the-counter, vitamin, and herbal products. Do not start a new medication without telling your doctor. If you need surgery, tell the surgeon ahead of time that you are using clindamycin.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Overdose symptoms may cause sickness, retching and diarrhea. Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature between 59-77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C). Store away from moisture and light. Keep it out of the reach of children and away from pets.
