General information
Baclofen is a medicine prescribed for treatment of the following conditions: cramping of muscles, rigidity, spasm of skeletal muscles, muscle clonus, spinal cord injury. It mechanism consists in relaxation skeletal muscles. Also, it is primarily used to treat spasticity and is in the early stages of use for the treatment of alcoholism.
Directions
It is recommended to take the medicine as it was prescribed by your doctor. Take it with a big glass of water. The initial recommended dose is 5 mg 3 times per day. Do not exceed your recommended dose.
Precautions
Before starting your treatment tell your doctor if you have the following conditions: kidney disease, diabetes, seizures, stroke, allergy to Baclofen, other medicines, food, dyes, or preservatives, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Contraindications
Patients with kidney disease; epilepsy or other seizure disorder, stroke or blood clots, allergy to Baclofen shouldn’t take the medicine.
Possible side effects
Side effects can be the following: allergic reactions: skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, chest pain, constipation, low blood pressure, hallucinations, vomiting, respiratory depression, inability to sleep, and increased urinary frequency or urinary retention, seizure. If you experience one of the side effects listed above contact your doctor.
Drug interactions
Tell your doctor about all medicines you may take. Baclofen interacts with the following drugs: antihistamines, medicines for depression, anxiety, and other mental conditions, codeine, oxycodone, tramadol, and propoxyphene, medicines for sleep, phenobarbital.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
Overdose
If you think you have overdosed the medicine seek emergency medical help at once.
Storage
Store the medicine at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Keep container tightly closed and out of children.
