General information
Atarax reduces activity in the central nervous system. It also acts as an antihistamine that reduces the natural chemical histamine in the body. It’s used as a sedative to treat anxiety and tension and also used together with other medications given for anesthesia. Atarax is treated allergic skin reactions such as hives or contact dermatitis.
Directions
Take Atarax exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take it in larger amounts or for longer than recommended. The dosage is 25-100 mg a day, that can be separated into several consumption. The dose can be differ for elder persons and failing of kidney or liver illness.
Precautions
Atarax can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. Stop using Atarax and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as tremors, confusion, seizures, or restless muscle movements in your eyes, tongue, jaw, or neck. Avoid drinking alcohol. It can increase some of the side effects of this medicine.
Contraindications
Allergy, ethylenediamine, porphiria, pregnancy, during labor and delivery.

Get emergency help if you have hives, difficulty breathing, tumour, uncontrolled shaking, confusion, giddy or headache.
Drug ineraction
Before using Atarax, tell your doctor if you regularly use other medicines that make you sleepy such as cold or allergy medicine, sedatives, narcotic pain medicine, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, and medicine for seizures, depression, or anxiety. They can add to sleepiness caused by Atarax.
Missed dose
Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Overdose can cause hypersedation, spasms, delirium, confusion, vomiting. Inform your doctor accordingly.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature between 59-77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C). Store away from moisture and light. Keep it out of the reach of children and away from pets. Don’t use after end effective period.
