General information
Doxepin is in a group of drugs called tricyclic antidepressants. Doxepin affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced. It is used to treat symptoms of depression or anxiety associated with alcoholism, psychiatric conditions, or manic-depressive conditions.
Directions
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Use it with a glass of water, with or without meal. Don’t cut, crush and chew it. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results. Do not stop using Doxepin suddenly after long-term use, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.
Precautions
You should not use doxepin if you are allergic to it, or if you have eyes problems, liver or kidney illness or pregnant. Don’t drink alcohol and smoke.
Contraindications
Avoid using if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, children and patients with the allergic symptoms to Doxepin.

Drug interaction
Inform your doctor about all other medicines you use. The drug can cooperate with MAO inhibitors (Moclobemide, Isocarboxazid, Furazolidone, etc.), Anti-arrhythmic medication (Quinidine, Propafenone, etc.), Antipsychotics (Fluphenazine), H2-receptor antagonists (Ranitidine, Nizatidine, Cimetidine, etc.), Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs): Dapoxetine, Fluvoxamine, Citalopram, etc.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Don’t take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Call emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine. Overdose symptoms may include chest pain, sickness, sluggishness or giddiness.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature between between 68-77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C). Store away from moisture and light. Keep it out of the reach of children and away from pets.
