General information
Endep is in a group of drugs called tricyclic antidepressants. Amitriptyline affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced. It is used to treat symptoms of depression.
Directions
Use this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice that can influence the level of cyclosporin in your blood. For best results, keep using the medication as directed.
Precautions
Do not use this medication if you are allergic to amitriptyline or if you have recently had a heart attack. It is unadvisable to drive, as the medication can make you sleepy. This medication may be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.
Contraindications
Don’t use it if you have allergic reaction to Endep, in people cured by MAO inhibitors or had myocardial infarction.
Possible side effect
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergy, giddy, dry mouth, somnolence, constipation or retching.
Drug interaction
Before using it, tell your doctor if you regularly use other medicines. The drug may cooperate with MAO inhibitors, anti-arrhythmic medications, Epinephrine, Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors, neuroleptics and H2-receptor antagonists. Avoid drinking grapefruit juice or eating grapefruit.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
If you think you have overdosed the medicine seek emergency medical help at once. Overdose symptoms may include sickness, chest pain, breaker heartbeat or giddiness.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature between 68-77 F (20-25 C). Store away from moisture and light. Use it within 60 to 90 days after opening the bottle. Keep it out of the reach of children and away from pets.
